Moccasin Telegraph Aboriginal Call-in Show April 30/2015

Figgy and Anna discussed the lack of education funds provided to High School Students evacuated from their homes in Kashechewan First Nation in Ontario. The move is  hard on high school students who cannot  prepare for their Diploma exams because they must attend their classes in a single classroom in an Elementary school. This does not facilitate their Science needs of completing Biology, Chemistry and Physics experiments in a High School Science Lab. The Kashechewan First Nation Chief claims the band is not given enough funds to send High School students to a public school off the reserve.

Everyone from the community on the James Bay coast was evacuated because of the threat of severe flooding. It’s the fourth year in a row that flooding has forced the evacuation of the entire community. This leaves the high school students at a disadvantage scholastically.
