Bev Sellars’ They Called Me Number One is an essential book to read on the Indian Residential School Crisis (IRS)

The Chief of the Soda Creek First Nation in Northern B.C. chronicles the injustices against Aboriginal students at St. Joseph’s Mission Residential School. Sellars reveals the horrors imposed upon generations of indigenous children including herself, her mother, and grandmother on Wiliams Lake First Nation Lands from 1891 to 1981.
