Tansi! My name is Anna Wilson and I am the researcher and cohost of Moccasin Telegraph Aboriginal Call In Show on CJSR Radio Network 88.5 FM Thursdays 5:00 pm to 5:30pm.
I have volunteered in this role since the Idle No More Movement in 2010 when I pledged a song I wrote to raise money for the children of Attawapiskat First Nation.
I have struggled with homelessness myself and survived in homeless shelters for battered women and need food banks.
I would be very grateful if you could phone in to our radio show and you will win a prize so we could share ideas about homelessness. (780)492-2577 ext. 1
I worked at the George Spady overnight homeless shelter on the night shift and had to wake up many clients at 4 am so they could get to work on time. So just because a person is homeless, it does not mean that they are lazy!
I hope to hear from you soon!

The yearly overnight broadcast is shared on campus and community stations from coast to coast, creating linkages and raising awareness of homelessness in across Canada. The Marathon began in 1998 in Geneva, New York. On February 17, 2015, the 17th annual Homelessness Marathon will take place in Sarasota, FL. The concept moved North to Canada 13 years ago with CKUT-FM in Montreal as the host station. Last year the Marathon was hosted by CJSR-FM in Edmonton, and this year, CFRC takes the reins.
In 2014, 35 stations broadcast the Marathon. We’re aiming for a similar number of broadcasters this year. For radio stations: Contact us if you would like to broadcast all or part of the marathon!
